Notre histoire

I've always loved to sew. Long before there was a brand, or even the idea of one, there was just that - hours spent getting a seam exactly right, learning how a piece of fabric wants to move, how it should actually sit against skin instead of just look good on a hanger. It's the kind of thing you do because you love doing it, not because you're building toward anything.

At some point, I started sewing my own bikinis. Partly because I already had the skills for it, but honestly, mostly because I could never find one I trusted. I'd buy something that looked right in the photos, wear it a few times, and watch it fall apart - a strap that stretched out, fabric that thinned, a fit that never quite held. So I made my own instead, the way I actually wanted them made.

That's the real origin of BijFran. Not a business plan - just someone who loved the craft enough to keep doing it for herself, until it turned into something worth sharing.

We're based in Montreal, and every piece is still hand-sewn, one at a time, the same way I made the very first ones for myself. No factory line, no shortcuts to hit a shipping deadline - just the same care I always gave a seam back when it was only ever going to be worn by me.

Our fabric comes from material shops around Montreal. I'm particular about it, the same way I was when I was sewing just for myself - how it holds up over a full summer, how it moves, whether it's still doing its job all year round.

I won't pretend a story alone tells you everything you need to know about a bikini - the only real proof is putting one on. But if you've ever had that quiet feeling, the first time you wore something, that it probably wasn't going to last -that's the exact thing I built this to fix. I'd like the chance to show you the difference.
